The Administrative Court of Freiburg has declared the rejection of an AfD article by the editors of the city's official gazette to be permissible because it did not have a sufficient urban reference and contained inadmissible election advertising for the AfD (Ref.: 4 K 5552/24 of 23 May 2025). The AfD article used two robberies and the origin of the suspects as an opportunity to discuss migration policy in Germany in general.

According to the editorial statutes of the official gazette, election appeals, election advertising and political statements without a municipal or local political reference are not permitted, as the municipality that publishes the official gazette is obliged to remain neutral. The AfD's contribution violated these statutes and was therefore rightly rejected.
