The election to the district council of the district of Dahme-Spreewald on 9 June 2024 must be repeated in one constituency. This was decided by the Cottbus Administrative Court (VG) (Ref.: 1 K 1265/24 of 26 March 2026). The action brought by the Mensch Klima Tierschutz party was thus partially successful. The court recognised that the election in electoral district I (municipality of Eichenwalde, municipality of Schulzendorf, town of Wildau, municipality of Zeuthen) had been improperly influenced because the plaintiff party had only been informed six days before the election that its application for billboard advertising had been granted. The VG ruled that the party - in contrast to its competitors - had thus been deprived of the opportunity to organise an effective election campaign with large and lantern posters. The error was also relevant to the mandate, in particular it also had an impact on the election in the other municipalities of constituency I.
