The expansion of renewable energy plants is currently being held back by limited grid connection capacities. Flexible Connection Agreements (FCAs) offer a solution here: they enable the grid connection and feed-in of electricity even if the capacity available at the grid connection point is not sufficient on paper. The new legal basis was introduced with the Solar Peak Law created. Static, dynamic or fully dynamic limits on feed-in power allow existing grid capacity to be allocated and utilised more efficiently - a key component for the accelerated expansion of renewable energies in Germany.

DOMBERT Rechtsanwälte supports the specialised agency Wind & Solar in the development of sample contract texts for such flexible grid connection agreements that can be used nationwide. The aim is to create practical, legally compliant contractual bases that provide planning security for grid and plant operators alike.

At DOMBERT, a three-strong team from the Energy, Environment and Climate Protection practice group provides advice. In addition to Düsseldorf partner Tobias Roß, who specialises in energy and infrastructure law, the team includes lawyers Judith Affeldt (grids, grid connection) and Tatjana Schmidt (integration of battery storage systems).
