The European Commission has published its new Strategy on the application of artificial intelligence. The aim of the „Apply AI Strategy“ is to promote the broad application of AI in strategically important areas. The EU is also focussing on the public sector. AI applications should make administration more efficient and be integrated into processes in as targeted a manner as possible. It is very important that trustworthy AI applications are used. The overriding goal is to maintain digital sovereignty. A toolbox is to be developed specifically for public administration. Open source applications, for example, are to be collected and made available here. In addition, case studies will support the development of administration-specific solutions and targeted European AI applications will be promoted. In total, the EU is investing around 1 billion euros in the implementation of the strategy.
