The EU Regulation on the Restoration of Nature („Restoration Regulation“) is currently causing a lot of discussion. What impact will it have on the day-to-day handling of nature conservation requirements in planning and authorisation? The answer is largely unclear.

The only thing that is clear is that the regulation heralds a legal paradigm shift: For the first time, not only the preservation but also the restoration of ecosystems will become mandatory throughout Europe. But what does this mean in concrete terms?

  • for private property developers and their construction and investment projects?
  • For cities and municipalities and their (urban land use) planning?
  • For the organisations responsible for higher-level regional and state planning?

Where can we still build in future? Where does nature conservation take priority? And above all: who decides? Is there national scope for implementation and how can it be utilised? And last but not least: What legal protection is available?

The event offers an initial overview in the form of a practical categorisation of the new legal framework as a „crash course“. It explains who is affected and how they are affected. It also shows the applicable timeline.

The event will also provide sufficient space for questions from participants and an initial exchange on this highly relevant topic.

The brains behind the event.
