DOMBERT Rechtsanwälte will continue to advise the Federal Network Agency on the planning procedures for the expansion of the electricity grid in Germany for a further two and a half years. Since 2023, the team led by partners Dr Jan Thiele and Janko Geßner, together with the Berlin law firm Weiss & Müller and the environmental offices Afry and Arbeitsgruppe für Tierökologie und Planung, has been supporting the Federal Network Agency in the projects of the electricity grid operators Tennet and Transnet BW. „The decision to extend our contract is certainly also an expression of our successful collaboration,“ says Thiele. To date, the project team has provided support in the planning procedures for 221 kilometres of high-voltage direct current transmission lines for the important SuedLink project alone, which will transport the electricity generated from wind energy in Schleswig-Holstein over 700 kilometres to Bavaria. This also includes extensive parts of the planning approval decision for the Elbe crossing. In addition, they were involved in the selection of the rough route for 152 kilometres of the Fulda-Main line and three planning approval decisions for the construction of the 149-kilometre overhead line, which runs from Grafenrheinfeld in Franconia to Großgartach near Heilbronn in Baden-Württemberg. Over the past year and a half, the two teams have made a significant contribution as administrative assistants in accordance with the Grid Expansion Acceleration Act (§29 NABEG) to ensuring that the construction of a total of 522 kilometre-long sections of various power lines can begin, in two sections even earlier than originally planned.

The team under the leadership of Rechtsanwalt Dr Jan Thiele and Rechtsanwalt Janko Geßner belong to Attorney at Law Natalie Carstens, Attorney at law Izabela Bochno, Attorney at law Judith Affeldt and lawyer Tatjana Schmidt.
