AfD politician Joachim Paul was not allowed to stand for election as mayor by the electoral committee in Ludwigshafen due to doubts about his loyalty to the constitution. His urgent applications in court were unsuccessful, and his appeal is currently before the Koblenz Higher Administrative Court. Rechtsanwalt Dr Dominik Lück emphasises that successful summary proceedings before local elections are only possible in rare exceptional cases - so Paul's chances of success are likely to remain slim.
