In the run-off elections in NRW, there were close voting results in several cities such as Mühlheim, Datteln and Siegen and, in some cases, counting errors, which have now been corrected or are being corrected. Dr Dominik Lück, a lawyer specialising in administrative law, has observed with concern an increasing trend towards contesting elections - especially by the AfD, that alleges manipulation due to time shifts in projections. Lück emphasises that while election challenges must be carefully examined to ensure transparency, they must not undermine trust in the democratic order.
