Parents with low and medium incomes will continue to receive relief on daycare centre fees in the state of Brandenburg. The original reduction to Contribution exemption and relief limited to the end of 2024  is now to be continued indefinitely. The potential coalition partners SPD and BSW agreed on this before a state government was formed. They have presented a draft bill to this effect, which is to be passed before the end of the year. This means that parents with an income of between 20,000 and 35,000 euros will continue to be exempt from paying daycare centre fees and parents with an income of up to 55,000 will be exempt (§§ 50 to 64 KitaG). This will save childcare providers from having to review and adjust the contributions in many cases.

The exemption from parental contributions in kindergarten remains unaffected by this legislative process. From 1 January 2025, the providers will receive a uniform flat-rate compensation of 125 euros for each child from the age of three until they start school.
