We ensure that science can flourish in a protected environment and that all those involved can fulfil their professional and official responsibilities.
We deal with the legal and organisational issues of modern research and teaching.
At our law firm, we advise universities on organisational and structural issues, as well as on disputes between university bodies or the distribution of resources and financial funds. As project-related public and private funding for universities and non-university research institutions is becoming increasingly important, we support companies in initiating, agreeing and implementing cooperation agreements.
A particular focus of our law firm is animal testing law: basic medical research cannot do without animal testing. We advise university hospitals, biotech companies and research institutions in order for them to fulfil their special responsibility in this sensitive area. Prof. Dr. Matthias Dombert, for instance, has been a member of the Ethics-Commission pursuant to § 15 TierSchG NRW since 2021, which advises authorities on the approval of animal experiments in the interest of animal welfare in North Rhine-Westphalia.
In addition, we focus on the issues of research law, such as university knowledge transfer and the conduct of clinical trials.
