Content of the event

A popular way for the public sector to realise necessary or desirable projects is to grant subsidies to third parties. This requires a careful and sensible approach to the topic, from the creation of a funding guideline to the verification of utilisation.

What is it about?

Grants are voluntary financial contributions from the public sector to third parties to achieve a specific goal. Local authorities can support individual projects as well as set up their own funding programmes and make funds available through these.

This requires a systematic understanding of the grant procedure. Only in this way will you be able to award grants (possibly on the basis of a self-designed funding guideline) without legal errors and to monitor and check their utilisation. If inappropriate use is detected, the awarding body must take immediate countermeasures and take appropriate action. The reclaiming of funds granted must be avoided at all costs in order to prevent financial damage to the grant recipient and political damage to the grant provider.

Through the granting of subsidies to municipalities and local public youth welfare organisations, recognised independent youth welfare organisations or other legal entities that operate a daycare facility and thus pursue charitable purposes can also be recipients of subsidies for operating costs. In this context, the seminar explains the role of the local authority as a grant provider.

The seminar provides valuable practical tips and explanations. We assume that the participants have a basic knowledge of funding law.
