The Protection of personal data is a sensitive task. We help regional authorities and local councils, public-sector organisations, schools and nurseries to comply with all data protection requirements – from the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) right through to the provisions of the specific data protection regulations in the respective federal states. We also assist companies and public authorities with Conflicts with data protection law, for example in the event of complaints or grievances from affected parties.

 

We support public authorities in the challenges of digitalisation: we assist them in transitioning from analogue to digital processes and ensure that online access to administrative services is legally compliant and in line with data protection regulations. We develop data protection concepts and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) in accordance with Art. 35 GDPR.

 

In addition, we also provide advice on the responsible use of artificial intelligence. We offer comprehensive advice to federal and state authorities, local authorities and public-sector organisations on the application of European AI Act and compliance with national legislation. A key focus of our work is assessing the compatibility of AI applications with the constitutional requirements, not least with regard to the certainty and predictability of government action.

 

We assist our clients in identifying and classifying AI systems in accordance with the European Union’s risk-based approach. Among other things, we provide support with the preparation of the necessary Conformity assessments and the Introduction of governance structures, ... which are necessary to ensure algorithmic transparency and non-discrimination. We also advise on the legal risks arising from the delegation of decision-making processes to automated systems result in and in the disciplinary participation procedures, when AI-powered tools are to be used in the workplace.
